The Australian Hindu Association continues to pressure Australian politicians to take concrete action to stop the pogrom against Hindus in Bangladesh. The AHA has met with and written to key politicians to raise awareness about the plight of Bangladeshi Hindus.

Here is an extract from the representations made by AHA:

‘What Australian Hindus seek

Australian Hindus seek your and your party’s support for the following:

1. That you raise in Federal Parliament the plight of Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh;
2. That your party support the suspension of aid to Bangladesh until such time as the pogrom against and discrimination against Hindus and other minorities ceases; and the rule of law is restored.
3. That your party support the imposition of trade sanctions on Bangladesh by Australia until such time as the pogrom against and discrimination against Hindus and other minorities ceases; and the rule of law is restored.
4. That your party give a commitment to set a quota for Hindu refugees under the humanitarian visa category.’
