At least 13 Hindus have been murdered in just over a month in Muhammad Yunus’s Islamic Republic of Bangladesh as the Jihadi pogrom of killings, rapes, abductions, arson and intimidation of Hindus goes from bad to worse.

12 year old Hindu girl raped

On the evening of 6 January 2026, a 12 year old Hindu girl -Shrabanti Ghosh was brutally raped and murdered in Lalkhan Bazaar, Chattagram. After the attack, her killers strangled and hanged her to give the impression of a suicide.

Pogrom against Hindus

Shrabanti’s merciless killing was not an isolated act. Since the overthrow of Sheikh Hasina’s democratically elected government in August 2024, there has been a pogrom against Bangladeshi Hindus orchestrated by Islamists and their backers.

Widow raped, tied to tree, hair cut off, recording circulated on social media

On 3 January 2025, Shahin and Hasan stormed into the home of a 40 year old Hindu widow in Kaliganj, Jhenaidah and raped her.

They then demanded 50,000 Bangladeshi taka from her. When she refused to give them the money, they tied the woman to a tree, cut off her hair, recorded the act, and circulated the video on social media.

They also tortured the widow until she lost consciousness.

Khokon Chandra Das set ablaze by mob

On 31 December 2025, Khokon Chandra Das was walking home from his pharmacy at Tilai Bazaar when he was attacked and stabbed multiple times. His assailants then dousing his body with a petrol-like substance and set him alight.
Das jumped into a nearby pond to save himself. He died on 3 January 2026 while undergoing treatment in hospital.

Das was the sole earner for his family comprising his elderly parents, his wife Sima and sons aged 5, 10, and 15.

13 Hindus killed in just over a month

There are verified reports of at least 13 Hindus being killed in the space of 35 days between 2 December 2025 and 5 January 2026.

Deepu Das beaten to death, hung from tree and burned

On 18 December 2025, Islamic fanatics killed a young Hindu garment worker – Dipu Chandra Das, 30 at Mymensingh.  They stripped him, hanged him, beat him to death and set him on fire. His crime – allegedly insulting Prophet Muhammad.

They celebrated Dipu’s death by shouting ‘Naraye Takbir, Allahu Akbar.’

Houses of seven Hindu families burnt

Between 20 and 25 December 2025 alone, the houses of at least seven Hindu families were burnt by Islamists.

51 incidents of violence against minorities in December 2025 alone

In a press release dated 6 January 2026, the Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council observed that ‘…communal violence is increasing at an alarming rate. In the month of December alone, at least 51 incidents of violence occurred.’

Fleeing Mithun Sarkar drowns in canal

On 5 January 2026, 25 year old Mithun Sarkar died after jumping into a pond in Mahadevpur, Naogaon, after being chased by a mob. His body was recovered from the Chakgori Bazaar area the next day.

Recent tactics used by jihadists when attacking Hindus is to accuse them of criminal acts or of being RAW (Indian intelligence) agents.

Hindu journalist shot dead

Also on 5 January 2026, Hindu journalist Rana Pratap Boiragi was shot dead by three assailants. Boiragi was acting editor of the Dainik BD Khobor newspaper published from Narail.

Hindu grocer stabbed to death

Moni Chakraborty was the third Hindu man murdered on 5 January 2026. Moni was returning home after closing his grocery shop in Narsingdi when he was attacked and struck him with a sharp, locally made weapon. Locals rushed him to the Palash Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead.

Hindu security guard shot dead

On 30 December 2025 Brajendra Biswas, a 40 year old security guard, was shot dead by one Noman Mia while on duty.

Mob beats Amrit Mondol to death

On 24 December 2025, Amrit Mondal, another Hindu youth, was beaten to death by a mob in Bangladesh’s Rajbari district.

Pintu Akanda strangled to death

On 23 December 2025, the dead body of 35 year old Hindu businessman Pintu Akanda was recovered from a microbus in Adamdighi Upazila in the Bogura district of Bangladesh.

He had been abducted a day earlier at gunpoint by four unidentified attackers. He had been strangled to death, according to preliminary reports.

Throat of Shanto Das slit

On 12 December 2025, police found the body of Hindu autorickshaw driver – Shanto Das (18) with his throat slit in a cornfield at Homna Upazila, Cumilla. Injuries from sharp weapons were apparent on the neck of the deceased, police said.

Hindu Freedom fighter and wife hacked to death

Jogesh Chandra Roy, 75 – who fought for Bangladesh’s independence in 1971 – and his wife Suborno Roy (60) were hacked to death on 7 December 2025 at their home at Rangpur.
According to the Awami League, the murder was been carried out by the radical Jamaat-e-Islami, who were opposed to the Independence Movement.

Fish trader stabbed to death

Fish trader Utpal Sarkar (35) was travelling in a van on 5 December 2025 when he was accosted and stabbed to death. The attackers left his Muslim driver unharmed.
The incident occurred in Saltha Upazila, Faridpur district.

Hindu jeweler gunned down

Hindu Jeweller Prantos Karmakar (42) was gunned down in Raipura Upazila, Narsingdi district on 2 December 2025.

Muted reporting in Western media

The Western media has largely ignored news of killing of Hindus in Bangladesh.
An exception was this report by the Australia’s public broadcaster – ABC.
